Ghetto Juice, the Orange County, CA-based surf magazine, will celebrate its one year anniversary and cap it off with a soiree at La Cave in Costa Mesa today Friday, August 5th.
The free publication, found all over surf shops along the coast, showcases O.C.’s hottest surfers with cool shots, usually in an artsy or shocker way, with covers that make you take a second of third look.
Co-publishers Skip Snead and Joe McElroy take the unique surf culture, of which Orange County is the hub, combine it with surf history, and present it all in classic, funny shots done in a very irreverent way. It’s a unique look at the latest in the surf scene in a way that’s cool and not too serious. Their Facebook fan page “About” line sums their vibe perfectly: “Surfing is the Sh*t.”
Published 9 times per year, Ghetto Juice was the 2010 Juicy Award Winner for “Best new surf magazine” and the 2011 Juicy nominee for “Best new surf magazine.” The 8th issue is out now, celebrating its one year anno.
The anniversary party at La Cave is hosted by Saunk, Rhythm Livin, and Micagem with live performances with Tomorrow’s Tulips and Hindu Pirates as well as DJ Mark Moreno. They plan giveaways, drinks, chicks, dudes, and smiles starting at 8pm.
