Love both art and a good cause? Two artists, Patrick Parker and Clark Takashima, will be showcasing their work throughout Southern California in August. Shows will happen each week, with a part of the event proceeds to benefit the Mauli Ola Foundation.
Patrick Parker’s “Surf Summer Series Collection” and Clark Takashima’s “Summer Show Aloha, revised works in radbowvision” will be showcased in various art galleries. Both artists, known for their “surf art,” are inspired by the beauty of the sea and the feelings they convey through their art that transcends to themselves and others.
Shows will happen each week, from Malibu to La Jolla, for the entire month. Light Light hors d’eouvres, beer and wine will be served.
About The Mauli Ola Foundation:
The Mauli Ola Foundation exists to introduce surfing as a natural treatment to people with genetics disorders. Since 2007, they have concentrated on the amazing connection between Surfing and Cystic Fibrosis and taken nearly 400 CF Patients Surfing at over 40 MOF Surf Experience Days. In 2011, they are planning to expand their program to help patients affected with Cancer and Alpha 1 Antitypsin.
About the Artists:
Patrick Parker was born and raised in Southern California, and now resides in Pupukea on The North Shore in Oahu. Patrick has been involved in many art shows in places such as Las Vegas, Hawaii, New York, San Diego, Long Beach, and Newport Beach, and currently has some of his art pieces displayed at The Wyland Gallery in Haleiwa.
Patrick has also had his work reproduced on skateboards by GLOBE International, and in publications such as LongBoard Magazine and MorSurf. He is also featured in a book released in late 2009 called Surf Story Project.
Clark Takashima was born and raised in Hawaii and resides in Haleiwa Hawaii. Clark currently shows his artwork at Wyland Gallery as well, in Waikiki and Haleiwa, Global Creations in Haleiwa, Wet Feet in Honolulu, Island Treasures in Koko Marina and Crepes No Ka Oi in Kailua.
