The world’s best skimboarders will battle it out at Aliso Beach in Laguna Beach this weekend starting Saturday, 8am July 16th for the Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding. The Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding (WCS) is the longest running skimboard contest on the professional tour.
50 riders from over ten countries around the globe will be battling for the skimboarding industry title of “World’s Best.”
The sport originated in Laguna Beach decades ago when lifeguards threw down a plank of wood and rode it on the sand. Now, skimboarding has become a bona fide sport that pushes riders to their limits by taking waves and boosting airs on the small boards.
This year will once again feature the Women’s Professional division, a division that started only last year. There will be a LIVE video broadcast of the events.
Last year’s local stand out and contest winner, Morgan Just, will look to repeat his performance and once again stand on top of the podium in first place. His biggest competition will probably be 14-time World Champion and current United Skim Tour champion, Bill Bryan.
Among the many sponsors include our very own Sector 9 and Billabong family of brands.
