Skateboarding fans, catch up on the 2011 Street League Skateboarding action. The Street League series, founded by 20-year professional skateboarder and entrepreneur, Rob Dyrdek, features 24 of the world’s top street skateboarders competing exclusively for a groundbreaking $1.6 million prize purse and is considered the premier professional street skateboarding series worldwide.
There are four stops, two of which have already been completed in Seattle, WA and Kansas City, MO. Stop 3 commences on July 16th – 17th in Glendale, AZ, and the final event will be in Newark, NJ on August 28th. The New Jersey contest is a “winner take all” Championship that will only be open to the top ten pros from the series. Winners of the first 3 contests are given an automatic pass to the Championship and then the remaining spots will be filled according to overall season rankings. Street League pros in New Jersey will be competing for the raised stakes of a $200,000 first place, a Street League Championship watch and ring as well as the title of 2011 Street League Champion.
We’re rooting on Element team riders Nyjah Huston and Mark Appleyard as they continue with the series in Glendale, AZ. With two wins under his belt, Nyjah is definitely the leader with 200 season points and is already guaranteed one of the ten spots in the New Jersey Championship.
Exciting stuff! It’s best to watch it live, but if you can’t make the event, be sure to watch it on EPSN, espn2, or the international webcast on www.streetleague.com.
