Skate Surf Art

What are you doing today? Check out the Skateboard/Surfboard exhibition and auction, Skate Surf Art at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, showcasing today, Friday, May 20th.

Kicking off this year’s Venice Art Walk weekend, Skate Surf Art will feature reused, recycled, and recreated, one-of-a-kind skate decks, and custom-shaped and “tattooed” surfboards. The skate decks and surf boards have been created by more than 30 national and local artists, including Tony Hawk, Graham Walzer, Gregory Siff, Lizzie Armanto, and Nathan Ota, and will be auctioned off at the event.

Eight boards donated by Om Surfboards and custom-shaped for the Venice Family Clinic by Jeffrey Sudzin, Dan Cobley, Jose Barahona, and Terry Harper will also be for sale in the auction. Each board will feature the artwork of a local tattoo artist, including Tyoni Aragon, Big Boy, Charly Reynoso, Alayna Magnan, Justin Jakus & Paul Deters of Black Diamond Tattoo (Venice): Jason Profant, Evermore Tattoo (Culver City); and Ryan Murphy, Ink Monkey Tattoo (Venice).

100 percent of the proceeds from this silent auction will go to the Venice Family Clinic, the largest free clinic in the US, which provides more than 106,000 primary care, specialty care, mental health, dental, and health education visits annually – all free of charge.

The event is free (it doesn’t require a ticket to the Venice Art Walk). There will also be music and food.
