Congratulations to Element Skate Team rider Nyjah Huston who took first place at the first stop of the 2011 Street League DC Pro Tour in Seattle this past Sunday, May 8th. Nyjah scored the top spot with a score of 9.9 for his backside 270 Noseblunt slide. This score also wins him the honor of the best trick ever, to date, at Street League. For his feats, Nyjah gets a cool $150,000 for winning “gold” with a total score of 104.6, as well as securing another $15,000 for winning Monster’s best trick.
Other top skateboarders: Shane O’Neill took second place (78.1) and Chaz Ortiz ended up third (77.2). Ryan Sheckler, who got fourth place (74.1), threw a fakie cab flip down the nine stair, scoring a 9.2 and until Huston’s final victory lap, was then the highest in event history.
Just a little background info on Nyjah: Nyjah started skating when he was around 5 years old and rides goofy. When Nyjah was 11, he was the youngest-ever X Games competitor and has been competing against professionals since August 2009, earning his first X Games medal in 2009 (Street Silver).
For a brief time, Nyjah had his own skateboard company, I & I, but then came back to Element in January of this year!
Nyjah spends his time skating in Southern California. Check out his winning trick from this weekend here at www.elementskateboards.com.
