The 2011 ASP World Tour is on its way. With the first event, the Quiksilver Pro, done and awarded to Kelly Slater, it’s time to move on to the second and next event: the Rip Curl Pro presented by Ford Ranger at Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia. It’s a huge year, as Rip Curl is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Rip Curl Pro at beautiful Bells Beach.
With Round 1 beginning this past Tuesday, April 19, the heat is on as our top seeds pursue barrier-breaking performances as they vie for the highly-coveted ASP World Champion Title. Events run until April 30th. Joel Parkinson (AUS), 30, had the first round’s highest scores.
Bells is reputed to be a tough wave to ride with lots of paddling and duck diving.
Kelly Slater (USA), 39, is the reigning 10-time ASP World Champion and defending Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach winner.
