If you’re under 16 and think you’ve got the goods to be a pro surfer, but have never entered a surfing contest, the Menehune Surf Fest may be your entre to a whole new surf life! With divisions for ages 6 – 16, boys and girls, in both long and shortboard skills, the Menehune Surf Fest is a fun, low stress way to try your first competition or hone your competition skills for next season.
Although it is not a regular season Western Surfing Association (WSA) event and does not require WSA membership, the Menehune Surf Fest is part of its yearly schedule, and is now celebrating its 7th year.
The WSA is the oldest amateur surfing association in the world. This year marks the 51st Season of the WSA Championship Tour. Established in 1961, the WSA is a California non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting and preserving the sport of surfing through fun, family oriented surf competitions.
WSA is an official West Coast member organization of Surfing America. The events offer fair, accurate judging (most are ASP) and WSA members can earn entry and a clear path to Surfing America Prime, Surfing America USA Championships and Team Trials.
The 7th Annual Menehune Surf Fest is next Sunday, July 15th at Goldenwest Street in Huntington Beach. The event begins at 7am. Prizes, food and beach games will be part of the fun. Online registration closes Friday, July 13, at 11:59 PM.
