We love a good surfing animal story, so we don’t want to forget to give you the scoop on last weekend’s third annual Surf City Surf Dog competition in Huntington Beach, CA.
Yes, California has dozens of beautiful beaches, but Huntington Beach’s Dog Beach is specifically for the dogs, and the site of this year’s competition. At Dog Beach, our four-legged friends rule year-round, and play, swim, dig and have a plain old fun time… mostly all off-leash.
Lots of records were attempted for the Guinness World Record’s® record books, such as one for most dogs on a board and one for longest ride by a dog on a surfboard. They were 10 seconds short of capturing the most dogs on a board record, but Abbie Girl, an Australian Kelpie and her owner Michael Uy, set the World Record for the longest ride on a board at 60 meters!
Congratulations to Abbie G and Michael and the Surf City Surf Dog event on successfully achieving the record and to all the surfing dogs out there waiting to catch the next wave!
