The Santa Cruz Surf Museum, the first museum on the West Coast solely dedicated to surfing, will celebrate its 25th anniversary this Friday, 5/27. Sitting atop Point Santa Cruz with a spectacular view of Monterey Bay and overlooking the legendary Steamer Lane surfing hotspot, this little museum opened its doors in June 1986. It is located in the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse at Lighthouse Point, a lighthouse built in 1967 as a memorial to Mark Abbott, who died at 18 while body surfing at Pleasure Point and whose ashes reside inside the lighthouse…

We’re proud to introduce to you ambsn. Ambsn Clothing (pronounced “ambission”) is a surf clothing brand now based out of San Clemente, California. The line was launched in 2001 by brothers Dylan and Dustin Odbert as a fundraiser for their friend, Cameron Clapp, who was hit by a train losing both of his legs and right arm. The brothers started the brand as a way to help their friend’s medical bills, and soon after, ambsn began growing organically on the streets of San Luis Obispo when locals started bringing it to the street and local shops started taking notice.

Kicking off this year’s Venice Art Walk weekend, Skate Surf Art will feature reused, recycled, and recreated, one-of-a-kind skate decks, and custom-shaped and “tattooed” surfboards. The skate decks and surf boards have been created by more than 30 national and local artists, including Tony Hawk, Graham Walzer, Gregory Siff, Lizzie Armanto, and Nathan Ota, and will be auctioned off at the event…
