We can all pretty much rank the top male surfers. On the must list include Kelly Slater, Laird Hamilton, Rob Machado, the late Andy Irons, Taj Burrow, Mick Fanning, and we can now add recent Bells winner, Joel Parkinson. But what about the gals?
Here’s our list of who we think should be considered the Top 5 Female Surfers in the world…
The 2011 ASP World Tour is on its way. With the first event, the Quiksilver Pro, done and awarded to Kelly Slater, it’s time to move on to the second and next event: the Rip Curl Pro presented by Ford Ranger at Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia. It’s a huge year, as Rip Curl is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Rip Curl Pro at beautiful Bells Beach.
Want to know how Laird Hamilton stays so fit? At 47, the top surfing master still maintains his healthy physique and does it via a combination of circuit training with weights, and cross-training outside of the gym. In fact, it’s not enough to be just a “gym rat.” Laird’s low body fat percentage comes largely because of how active he is outside of the gym! Laird incorporates exercises he learns from Expert Trainers, Military Commanders, and Physical Therapists and is constantly evolving and expanding his fitness.
