Check out these pics of bikini-clad Rihanna as she roars around on the back of pro surfer Makua Rothman’s Kawasaki watercraft and continues to celebrate her 25th birthday.

The incredibly talented artist known for hits such as “Umbrella,” “Where Have You Been, and “Diamonds” showed off her bikini body as she indulged in her favorite pastime. Make-up free and her hair drenched with water, the pop star was seen holding onto the back of the jet-ski as Rothman sped around the Hawaiian waters, having a ball with the world champion Hawaiian big wave surfer, musician and actor.

Makua began surfing at the early age of two years old, but began tow-in surfing at the age of 13 when his dad and family friend Darrick Doerner, a pioneer in tow-in surfing, first taught Makua. Makua eventually learned the ropes of tow-in surfing and in 2002 won the Billabong XXL Big Wave Challenge Award in one of the most historic big-wave sessions in history. His fearless surfing of the 66 foot wave earned him $66,000, a thousand dollars for every foot. It was the largest wave in the world to be surfed that winter. Makua is currently sponsored by RVCA.

Happy Birthday Riri!

California Beach fiends: time’s running out to get your State Beach annual passes before the prices increase to $195. The state of California just raised the price of its annual parks pass, which gives you the right to enter and park all over the state. Due to the increase of the cost of the Annual Day Use Pass by the Department of Parks and Recreation, the $125 Frequent Visitor Level will now have the benefit of 14 Day Use Passes and the Touring Member level will increase to $195.

But, if you buy the pass from the California State Parks Foundation as their “Frequent Visitor Pass” before Friday, June 1, you’ll get it for only $125 per year.

Until June 1 you can lock in the Touring Member level for 3 years at the lower price of $175 per year and receive the Annual Day Use Pass all 3 years. The Touring Member level includes a membership to the foundation, admission and parking at 200 state parks, plus a newsletter and 10% off camping reservations. You can also join at the $125 Frequent Visitor level before June 1 and still receive the Annual Day Use Pass this year before it changes to 14 Day Use Passes, still a great value worth over $150.

Moreover, you’ll help support the California State Parks Foundation, the only statewide independent nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, enhancing and advocating for California‘s magnificent state parks.

It’s a great deal so snag it before you no longer can’t at: https://secure3.convio.net/cspf/site/Donation2?df_id=1660&1660.donation=form1

Our Becker Surf store in Hermosa Beach (Pier Avenue) is undergoing a renovation! We’re stoked that it is getting a long-awaited facelift. During this process, the store will obviously be closed, but we will temporarily operate out of a Manhattan Beach shop at 1727 Artesia Boulevard (corner of Artesia and Aviation Boulevards) until improvements are complete.

We’re thrilled to be creating a space with a higher ceiling and a more customer-friendly layout. To do that, we’re pretty much gutting the whole thing and starting over again, but the store’s dimensions will not be drastically altered.

For a behind the scenes glimpse, above are the guns that moved all the merch and furniture from Hermosa Pier Ave to Artesia Blvd – our very own store managers, John Leininger and E.L. Huante!

The renovation will happen all of October, and we’re aiming for a Nov. 15 reopening.

FYI – Becker Surf opened its first retail store in Hermosa Beach in 1980!

We’ll keep you posted on our progress. In the meantime, see you in Manhattan Beach!

We’re happy to introduce The Ryde to our Becker World. The Ryde was born in Laguna Beach, CA in 2002 when Matt Allen and Mike Figueroa joined forces in an effort to rid the action sports industry of tired logo based designs. Clearly they were on to something since those same companies followed suit and now also take an increasingly art based approach in their t-shirt lines…
